Terezín (also known as Theresienstadt) was an 18th-century fortress and garrison town in the Czech Republic that Nazi Germany repurposed as a Jewish ghetto and concentration camp between 1941 and 1945. It operated primarily as a transit station to extermination camps and a deceptive propaganda tool.
